Account creation
Starting a business means making decisions before you even have a business account. This case is about the words of company creation at Qonto, and how they make the next step clear.

Overview
Creating a company and opening an account go together for the person doing them.
The words have to make each step clear: what applies to you, what you need to provide, and what happens next. Onboarding is part of the same story, because the journey does not end when the account exists.
Context
I am a Staff Content Designer at Qonto, and I have worked on this since July 2025. I am still on it, because company creation keeps changing. It cuts across several screens, steps and teams instead of living on one page. That is why there is no single screen to show.
My role
Staff Content Designer, from July 2025 to today. I lead the content for company creation and its onboarding, and I keep it consistent as the journey changes.
The content challenge
Company creation asks people to deal with paperwork they may never have seen. The words have to connect each requirement to something you can do, without asking you to learn the whole process first. They also have to stay consistent as the journey changes: the same name for the same thing, and the same logic from one step to the next.
How I work
Because the work cuts across so much, I treat it as one system, not a set of pages.
I start with my own proposal: the first draft is always mine. I build each step around the next action, so it says what you can do and what comes after. I keep terms the same across the whole journey, so one requirement has one name. And I check my proposal against Qonto's design system, product terminology and content design guidelines before it moves on.
How I used AI
I use AI in two ways. First, to document the project steps and keep the tracking up to date. Second, to challenge my writing. I always start with my own proposal. Then I run it past agents that question the copy and check it against the design system, the product terminology and all of Qonto's content design guidelines. The agents question and check. I make the decisions.
Outcome
Our approach to the content was one of the factors behind a 10% increase in conversion, not the only one.
A page that needs explaining is not clear enough.
Clear content is not an explanation you add after the page is built. It is part of the page: the choice it shows, the order it follows and the action it makes possible.
